Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund through the SDSM&T Foundation

Help provide academic financial support to the Beta Chapter actives by donating to our scholarship fund!

Whenever a group of Beta alums get together, we realize how much our education has helped us in our
lives.  We also remember that it wasn't easy - almost all of us struggled financially to pay some, or all, of
our way through college.  With that in mind, the idea of a Beta Chapter scholarship was brought to life
through the SDSM&T Foundation.  We'd like to "give back" and provide encouragement and financial
help to AOE's that are currently working hard to get their degree.

Our Goal:  Give a couple of $500 scholarships each Fall and Spring -- it depends on how many
donations we receive!

How are the winners picked?

Active members of the Beta Chapter submit an application with relevant academic information, work
history, and an essay.  A volunteer group of Beta alumnae review the applications and select the
recipient(s).  Particular emphasis is placed on financial need and the essay.  The scholarship is then
awarded to the winner by the SDSM&T Foundation.

Since the scholarship program was started in 2009, we've been able to award four $500 scholarships.  It
might not seem like much but every little bit helps!

How do I donate?

It's easy!

Go to the
SDSM&T Foundation website and click on Donate Now button.

** Important **  Under Designation, indicate your donation is for the AOE Beta Chapter Scholarship

Thank you so much for awarding me the Alpha Omega Epsilon
Scholarship of $500.  I appreciate your generosity of helping students
achieve a higher education at the South Dakota School of Mines &
Technology and also members of Alpha Omega Epsilon Professional
Engineering & Science Sorority.

My name is Caitlin and I am currently in my third year here at SDSM&T
majoring in Geological Engineering.  I have known for years that this is
the subject I want the rest of my work life to revolve
around and I love my degree more and more every semester.  So far
my college experience has been everything I could have imagined—full
of highs and lows, new experiences, lots of homework, and learning
how to balance my budget.  This scholarship will truly help me and my
financial needs.

I am really passionate about Alpha Omega Epsilon and I hope you are
enjoying seeing it grow into an amazing organization.  I currently hold
the offices of Vice President and Recruitment Chair which cause me to
be very involved in A.O.E.  I am lucky enough to have two little sisters
already and I can’t wait to watch them one day carry on the legacy.  My
decision to join Alpha Omega Epsilon was one of the best decisions I
could have ever made in my college experience.

Once again, I cannot express how grateful I am for getting awarded this
scholarship. I hope that you continue to contribute to the members of
Alpha Omega Epsilon.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive the Alpha Omega
Epsilon Scholarship. This scholarship will enable me to pay for
more of my schooling and help bring me closer to my goal of getting
my Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineer at the South
Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

I grew up on a cattle ranch in Ludlow, SD with my parents, my older
brother, and my two younger sisters. I love school but enjoy going
home whenever the opportunity arises in order to see my family and
to ride and train my horses. I have a passion for running and pretty
much any activity outdoors. I hope to graduate from SDSM&T and
find a job in or around South Dakota in order to stay close to my
family.

It’s my hope that you continue to contribute to the SDSM&T
Foundation and future students of SDSM&T. Every scholarship
helps us reach our future goals and is always greatly appreciated.
